Family Life Network (Christian media ministry based in Winnipeg) is accepting applications for Publications Manager. The successful applicant will be flexible, love Jesus Christ, and thrives in a fast-paced environment with multiple deadline requirements and short turnover time. Responsibilities include creative writing and editing proficiencies, the coordination and production of communications material (print and e-communications) supporting Family Life Network’s programs and events, including research, news writing, creating appeals for funding and other promotional material.

A printed story in their hand or in their Inbox gives our supporters a concrete opportunity to respond with a donation. Our work joins God’s Spirit in calling people to invest their funds where God is at work.

Responsibilities

Research and interview for stories for print pieces, e-communications and video newscasts. Write content for monthly appeals, news releases, annual reports, website content, e-communications, Facebook and twitter messages, letters, brochures, department specialty needs/events. Conceptualize print projects using knowledge of cutting edge appeal trends.

Qualifications

Excellent writing, spelling and grammar skills with a commitment to accuracy

Excellent editing and proofreading skills

Proficient in Microsoft Office

Experience in finding and writing engaging stories and choosing good photographs

A good understanding of traditional and social media and how to use them successfully

Resourcefulness and the ability to multi-task and work with tight deadlines

Strong creative skills

Pro-active and energetic, able to complete projects on time

Good inter-personal skills, with the ability to communicate well with the FLN team, outside organizations, ministries, churches, etc.

Post-secondary education in journalism, creative communications or a related field is desirable

Experience working for traditional print media or online media is desirable
